When skin care may impact on infant health

In a generation whereby there are several unique products on the market called 'skincare', we start to question exactly what we do and don't need.

In the event you had an ultrasound whilst pregnant you'd have noticed that all the infant's organs had been reviewed, and occasionally even measured. Our body's largest organ is our skin, so we have to treat it with as much care as we would treat any of our child's body parts. Any kind of skin care product will be absorbed into your baby's skin, which means it will enter their blood circulation and be distributed around the body.

We're huge advocates of a compound free society. There is truly no need to be placing chemicals on a baby's skin and we can not see any benefit for them using chemical based products over what nature intended. Any chemicals put onto the skin will be absorbed into the body.

Baby Powder can be your friend if you use it the perfect way, and contains so many multi functions uses around the home such as stopping stinky shoes, to untangling jewelry, as a dry shampoo and even to prevent sand sticking to your feet.

Harsh and abrasive products are still available in some baby products in Australia, and while other countries around the world have banned parabens for baby/ kid skincare, in Australia these bans are not in place so it's definitely worth reading the labels. We've only just learned that baby wipes contain products which are banned in leave-on products like creams and lotions but permitted in wash-off products such as shampoo and shower gels.

Another thing to bear in mind is that if you're pregnant you want to be considered natural products that won't impact in your unborn baby. Alarmingly Retinol (also called vitamin A1) for example has warning labels to not use whilst pregnant or breastfeeding.

However not all is bad- these days there is so much information out there to educate you on what options are available which align with your beliefs and healthcare experiences. Certified Organic options show amazing results and also indicate that you don't need a pharmacy degree to have the ability to read the label. If you are ever unsure ask your Doctor, Paediatrician, Obstetrician, Pharmacist or Midwife. ENS Mother & Baby Skin Care always like to go over the benefits of our products and ingredients also.

Whilst we are Certified Organic, made of only the purest and most potent ingredients, we can assure you that you're giving the best baby products that work to treat your child's skin and will protect them from having to use an alternate chemical based product.
